    • You could say that to some degree it would have made strategic sense depending on the goal of said strategy. Ultimately the label of being a “petty act of revenge” is an opinion AH is entitled to. But to be honest, if I had been Saddam, then I too would have burned those platforms down to the water’s surface. Call it what you will, if I couldn’t have them then there’s no way I would want my enemy to have access to them either. Besides, Saddam was no stranger to the concept of revenge. It’s basically why everyone in country feared him and his regime. May have been petty but for him it worked.

  • I went back there to my hometown in the Kurdistan region. My grandma told me that as bad as Saddam was, it's 100 times worse now. I now understand why the middle east hates the US. They destroyed Iraq for oil at the cost of a country and the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians. The American military is the biggest terrorist organization/oil company in the world. Defending freedom my ass.

  • Ah yes, the illegal invasion of Iraq, based on lies and propaganda. Thats a war crime just to be clear. When the US people found out their government had lied and falsified evidence to justify this war crime they of course demanded several actions. 1st the unilateral withdraw from Iraq and arranging to pay reparations. 2nd the immediate arrest and extradition of all parties involved to the Hague for trials as war criminals. But of course this didn't happen. The shame the general population of the US should feel because their fear and embarrassment stopped them from doing what was right . The result? Over the past 20 years the US has become an evil regime that needs to be overthrown

    • @تشينغ شان العراقيh.u.j1 you think I didn't know that? Saddam was an evil SOB, no doubt. That however does not give any country the right to invade. If it did the US would be a glowing crater.

    • @تشينغ شان العراقيh.u.j1 how many Iraqi civilans have died since that illegal invasion? 2.4 million by 2016. How many did Saddam kill in a 13 year period? It doesn't matter if Saddam was a sick evil bastard. He was what they needed in that insane asylum to keep some order. ISIS wouldn't exist if he was alive

  • The reason behind the civilians in the urban regions didn't support the US invasion , is that they were afraid of US failure or sudden withdrawl which might result eventually in them dealing with saddam regim by their empty hands , and accusation of treason . like what they have faced when they formed a revolution against him during the invasion of Kuwait thinking they have toppled him and that america would help them but it didn't and it allowed him to suppress the revolution , they faced atrociaties and mass executions .

  • Iraq Body Count estimated upwards 85% of civilians in Iraq killed were not killed by coalition forces. As someone who followed i casaulties dot org back when they tracked Iraqi fatalities, I suspect it was more like 90%. Insurgent factions in Iraq committed countless senseless acts of violence: bombing bridges, power-stations, flower nurseries, firing mortars into random sidewalks. Usually it was out of sectarian spite, but sometimes it was in mixed areas with no clear malice against any particular group of Iraqis (Shiite, Sunnis, or Kurds). The July Soccer bombings were a prime example. Why? We all know why. Because they knew people would blame their Western enemies. Every atrocities they committed became a propaganda victory. No one has more blood on their hands than the people who blame America for the crimes of its mortal enemies. If the terrorists knew they and only they would be blamed for their own crimes, Iraq would have turned out very very differently.

  • The Iraq War is simple. America gave the Iraqis what they wanted (April 2004 Gallup Poll Iraqis said war was "worth it" by a margin of more than 2 to 1). Things went okay. Then around 2006 sectarian violence got really fierce. They mass murdered each other and blamed Americans and pretended they never wanted to be liberated. And the terrorists laughed their asses off, as the oceans of blood they had spilled was now seen as being on the hands of their Western enemies.
