    • Extremely naive to believe humans and their technological advancements have achieved a sustainable “positive sum game”, This is an illusion. A fiction like the economic bubbles stock markets create. Go ahead and operate like we live in a positive sum world and watch as billions of people are displaced as human induced climate change destroys human habitats on a global scale over the coming decades. But I’m sure the future generations in the future positive sum world will have the ingenuity and resources to solve the problem....in the future.

  • We should cap the income of the super rich immediately, who simply sing, act or play sports for a living, and use that excess money to start solving the problems we face on a daily basis. Better spent on that than sports cars, alcohol and drugs for a few selfish people.

  • This is a tremendously stupid and ignorant video and argument. It is misusing "selfishness" as a proxy for transfer of wealth from some sectors to others without proper incentive structures. The argument of selfishness as a driver of cooperation has todo with symmetry, the cost of extracting value from others thru violence, therefore the higher evolutionary payoff of cooperation. Without a tangible payoff (economic or genetic), forced or one way cooperation thru wealth transfers and investment without tangible returns is not incentive compatible. Therefore, actually deteriorates economic output. Pls learn about evolutionary game theory before making ignorant 'hope and kindness' based videos.

  • Basically help others to help yourself. A very, very good argument, and It is my Idea of living: i help every person i think might be helpful to me in the future. I know it is selfish but would you really go out of your way just to help someone you never met before and probably never will meet again? I know some ppl would, but thats my point. Helping people blindly isnt the very good thing its made out to be. If you think about It, you should actually focus on helping people that are close to you and will be able to help you in the future.

  • The problem is, when supply increases, the want for profit increases too. So, if somebody makes one pie, to have a profit, they will sell it, instead of just distributing it. If there were a precisely fixed cost for everything, then nobody would have a profit, and it is in human DNA to have more. As long as people want profit, instead of seeing the bigger picture, the world will never be the way in the video.

  • Interesting argument. Several things to pay attention to: first, people's suicidal rates and psychological states don't seem to get better. Also, people's tendency to compare themselves to others and 'envy' might also aggravate.

  • Good program, and food for thought. That said. If the Industrial Revolution eliminated the zero sum wealth game then why was the 20th century preoccupied with conquest? The Cold War might have been ideological, but land grabbing was still involved. This continues with China in the South China Sea. I believe this will intensify, smaller countries may feel a need to take sides, and either a second Cold War, proxy wars, or serious conflict is in the future. Here we have helped another body, it became strong, and rose to threaten us. Will the zero sum game, or at least it's mentality ever leave?

    Michael HartmanMichael Hartman11 gün önce
  • The reason I'm against helping poorer countries is that they either are too under educated to use the resources, or they sell the stuff they don't need for basic needs, or they fight over it. It's really tough to just say this, but I think the only reason to get into the space age is to cut off our dead limbs.

  • This is a faulty ideology, like the perfection of the invisible hand. For proof, look at India. What has india done when they prospered? They call the rest of the world in large numbers claiming to be from microsoft technical support. That's what happens when they prosper. What's good for them is not good for the rest of the world all the time.

  • Sounds very wishy washy, but I do agree overall that the more people are better off, the more likely I am to be better off too. Problem with all of this, is that it's all a hopeful "what-if?". There is also a good enough chance that people will be negligent, or worse, aggressive when they become better off. I think everyone should stick to bettering themselves while also not actively seeking to halt the advance of others.
