There actually was a Canadian civil war but the english Canadians surrendered before it got violent: In 18 april 1972 the stupid Anglophones started planning operation Neat Pitch: A fast but bloody invasion of Québec to wipe out all Francophones. But Captain René-Marcel Sauvé prevented it from happening with one trip to Europe, where he got the military support of both the UK, France and Germany. The UK even lended him 200 million British pounds to buy weapons under one condition: All the purchased weapons had to be bought from Britain and sp René-Marcel Sauvé purchased those weapons including 5000 tanks! And then when he got back to Québec he put everything that happened in the news journal and made sure every Anglophones of Canada learned that Québec now had 5000 tanks and all those BRITISH weapons (why british? Because it hurts the feelings of those anglo Canadians a lot more) when Pierre Trudeau (prime minister of the time) heard of this he was horrified and was forced to surrender the Canadian flag to René-Marcel Sauver and ever since, Québec has been in control of the Canadian government and French became the second official language of Canada trvision.net/detail/video-olbNYBhqcaU.html - Please make an english video of it

It seems that the main force involved was the British military and that the Canadians played a very small role. I'm not sure how accurate this is. If it is accurate, then the Canadians don't have a reason to be proud of this. In what little research I've done, it seems like a lot of windfalls kept falling into the British and Canadian laps. On the brightside, realizing 12,000 soldiers in a standing army for a population of more than seven million was a bad idea and the resulting effectiveness in other wars was thanks to the War of 1812. The war also helped strongly in Canadian identity's formation as well as ironically helped break the close ties between Canada and Britain. By "weaken" I mean that Canada became its own thing. Talk about irony that we Americans thought the British soldiers were controlling Canada and we'd be liberating the Canadians from them...and then the war ended up doing exactly that soon enough as a result of stiring up Canadian national sentiments.

I did some mountain/ cold weather training with Canadian Indians in the arctic circle. About a week of training and a week of drinking with those boys. What a blast. I will say though, don’t EVER try to out drink those fellas. You’ll be mad when they walk away from the drinking game table and you’re crawling. The beautiful think is they’ll still lug your wasted ass to your bunk. Much love to Canada, from and American army veteran. We love you brothers. Also don’t mistake “French” with “French Canadian” as far as battle or war goes. The Canadian military carries a big stick, but they walk softly. Something the American politicians should learn a little more of. Being humble goes a long way.

Quebec has always been a pain in the ass to everyone, even the rest of Canada hates them. The USA just had too many other things to do that they felt were more important. I find it interesting how this video really downplays the role of local Canadian militias. As well the comments... " In November 1775, Governor Carleton organized the defenders of Quebec City to face a siege by the American rebels. British regular troops were few in number. We are in a hopeless dilemma where we are treated as the bowels of Canada where we are used and abused for our resources yet have little representative in the house of commons.
