Thanks for this I didn't know what tha battle at Alma was before. It is interesting that you can tell where our town was expanding in those days from the pub names, The Alma and the Sevastopol. They had a coal mine nearby, because in the same short stretch of road there is also The Colliers and The Black Boy pubs. Those people must have been very thirsty and/or a large number!

I mean a perfect crusade at that time could mean a complete change from what we see today.. Middle East and the Holy Land would've been under Christian control but instead it stayed under Ottoman control until World War 2 because Crusaders were interested in fighting against Orthodox Christians instead.. PS:- Armenian And Greek genocide could've been avoided and Ottomans wouldn't even have been a strong part of the Central Powers that we saw in World War 1.

The version of religious conflict is really dumb. Emperor Nicholas I tried to ally with Aberdeen; his goal was not to defend Orthodox but to destroy Ottoman Empire (to kill a "person malade"). The British did not want to "save the balance in Europe", their goal and achievement was to put Russia on its knees, to overthrow the policeman of Europe.

@2:50 Constantinople wasn't the birthplace of Orthodoxy, It became the center of Orthodoxy much later, from there in the 9th century Vladimir the Great was baptized into Orthodoxy at Chersones in Crimea.

Russia never forgave Britain and France's assaulting Crimea on behalf of the Ottomans. Russia took a bit of revenge in 1956, when USSR kicked both countries out of Egypt. Still to this day, Russia is aware of possible aggression towards Crimea and took every measure to ensure it doesn't happen.
