  • John Oliver at his most badass. Rickrolling the audience, bashing the business daddy, trolling selfie addicts. Wow 😃😃

  • RAISE THE PRICES. Raise the fuck outta them. There's always going to be demand. Even if you see it as a purely business thing, the Nepalese government needs to make Everest more exclusive. No good business would allow that much shit to happen. Oof. This is harrowing.

"Whate guilt".... seriously? What a pity. THis IS a serious subject and you are 100% RIGHT about this whole thing. Too bad the message had to get all mucked up, again.

  • I've been hiking for 30 years. But I have no desire to ever go up Everest or any high or crowded mountain. I used to hike solo up a ridge line where no one barely ever went. 600 meters up over 0.75 km. That is about 2000 feet up in 1.8 miles. That was plenty good for me. I quit going there because I was getting migraines from the radio tower on the top. And also the rattlesnakes almost bit me once or twice. Oh and I got caught up in a lightning storm coming down one time. I saw a double rainbow that day, and my life flash before my eyes.

  • Cheap shot at Art Garfunkel uncool man. Garfunkel did the unique vocal arrangements and was the more experienced musician who gave life to Simon's lyrics. His work was subtle but he deserves tremendous credit. For shame John.

  • Rich white people climbing Mount Everest is like rich people going to Burning Man... they spend a lot of money for a comfortable RV with food and drinks all prepared for them and sleep comfortably while everyone sleeps in the sand and trade belongings to barter for supplies... I bet you $100 they can't climb it on their own the 2nd time without a Shepard.. so that means it wasn't an achievement because they didn't actually climb it themselves, but they had heavy assistance (Shepards carrying your equipment, cooking food for you, preparing the ladder to help you cross a deep ditch, navigating and showing you where to go).

  • It's difficult to see the appeal in this. I'd have imagined that one of the amazing things which gave this arduous climb purpose would have been some intense feeling of solitude at the top, something both desolate and spiritual, unlikely to be felt again, but a memory to return to often when your spirit needs a connection. How the f- do you get anything like a mountaintop experience when you're up there for a couple minutes?! That line looked worse than the line outside a women's restroom- complete with the conscious knowledge that you're pressed for time, others are waiting, etc.- only this time, they might DIE if you take too long! Or what of a relatively well-prepared, experienced mountain climber who gets stuck behind a person who shouldn't be attempting this by any means? Add to this frustrating bottleneck of humans conditions which are life-threatening and just plain physically uncomfortable, and it just seems to me like you've got the makings of the Everest of Vacations from Hell.

  • I don't blame the Nepalese government. If some rich asshole wanted to pay me 11 grand to climb the roof of my house just to take a picture by my chimney I'm not turning that down. I'll even throw in the call to 911 for free when they bust their ass.

  • Not that I didn't enjoy this, but I clicked on a link for an episode called Police Militarization, having just watched one on accountability. And it sent me here. This does worry me a bit. It seems a bit too much of a coincidence that TRvision just happened to glitch on that particular link. Put together with other convenient glitches happening recently, I'm getting really worried about where this is going.

  • Makalu is the fifth highest mountain in the world at 8,485 metres. It is located in the Mahalangur Himalayas 19 km southeast of Mount Everest, on the border between Nepal and Tibet Autonomous Region, China. One of the eight-thousanders, Makalu is an isolated peak whose shape is a four-sided pyramid

  • Overall enjoyed the video even though it lacks some nuances. JO mentions that the problem is on the Nepal side, but in the video of the climbers struggling to come down due to traffic, Russel Brice mentions "Second Step" which is clearly on the Tibet side.

  • It amazes me that some of the people who trek Everest leave litter. Why are you even climbing Everest in the first place? To see a beautiful mountain? To experience a gorgeous part of the world that few have gone? Leaving litter takes away from the beauty and is very disrespectful. Your either part of the of the problem or part of the solution. Thank you to the cleanup crew that removed so much trash from Everest. If your not part of the solution stay the Fuck home.

  • Just living in Denver is bad enough. In Breckenridge I nearly passed out at the peak. No way i'm gonna pay crazy money to go more than double that height. I skied in Japan on real mountains in my early 20's and that was too terrifying. These idiots that think Everest is a good holiday definitely have a screw loose.

    • Brek is whack. If you dont feel like driving so far try climbing mount Morrison out by red rocks. Or mount saintas over by boulder. Colorado springs has manytoe incline, lol. But it's always way too crowded for my liking
