Get yourself some NEW Theory Wear!! ►
This year we are getting a seemingly brand new take on the classic Batman villain, the Joker. This version stars Joaquin Phoenix as a failed comedian named Arthur Fleck - a new name for the old character. People are saying it's a whole new origin story for the Joker and I think that's true... but maybe not in the way most people are thinking. I think this Joker is not actually REAL! What do I mean? You're about to find out!

  • Well we don’t know joker’s real name or last in the movie so I feel like it is the real joker and that joker soon switches body’s like he does in the comics

  • Yeah go watch the Netflix series Gotham that’s about the origin of Batman and other super villains are in it namely for this video there is jerome who turns into joker. so that might help

  • I agree with this 100%. But me and my brother have another theory. So we’re there watching and as soon as the movie is over, we look at each other. I tell him “are you thinking what I’m thinking?” and he says, “none of that happened, it was all in his head.” And I say “yup”. In our opinion, the last 2/3 of the movie didn’t really happen. After he stopped taking his pills, that’s when when the rest of the movie is pretty much all in his head. Well that’s our opinion.

  • I think this movie is incredibly problematic. People arent supposed to sympathize with the Joker. He's supposed to just be a complex bad guy, not a controversial one. It's the same reason people have crushes and fixations on serial killers, the movie is being told in a way that some people can "relate" to. Especially people who have the mentality of "society made me like this". I truly believe that this movie will be damaging and birth thousands of copycat followers. We should not be romanticizing murder, violence and mental illness .

  • For once I totally disagree. Arthur is mentally ill and all the things going on in his life push him further and further over the edge. He loses his Arthur Fleck identity when he finds out he's adopted. When he goes off his meds, Arthur "dies" and Joker is born. The line about him never knowing he existed until now indicates that the Joker is who he really is. He isn't a mastermind but an icon and catalyst of chaos. When he kills the 3 guys, the disenfranchised people see it as a strike against the Upper class. They latch onto the icon of the Killer Clown and use it for the anonymity to rise up. As tensions raise, Joker killing Murray Franklin was the straw that broke the camel's back. A tv icon and representative of the upper class is killed and everyone sees it. In crowd mentality it takes one person to act and everyone else follows so that's what happened. When they pull him out of the police car in the end it's almost like a Messiah moment for Joker. He sees the dark side of life as the comedy so when he sees the crowd around him cheering and smiling (the clown masks smiling) he believes he's achieved his goal of bringing laughter to the world.

  • Okay what about the DCEU multiverse theory? What if this version of the joker is the modern age joker that focuses on mental health. If the DCEU is taking a step towards setting up a multiverse this could be another step in that direction.

  • Good theory but as far as I can remember he was never the leader of the protest, the clown was just a symbol used cos some random clown stood up to some stock broker guys. He did sort of start it and became the symbol but they mostly evolved on their own separately. Think of it similar to the French Yellow Jacket movement, where there isn't a single leader and the symbol just somehow came up and was widely adopted. Even that movement isn't one single movement but a wide variety of them with different aims based on which subfaction you talk to. I was under the impression that Arthur wearing his "final" Joker suit was meant to represent his transformation after killing his mother and how he just went full crazy. I won't be surprised if some of this was indeed illusionary but I doubt the entire thing was. But that is what I like about this movie, you really can't be SURE of anything.

  • The thing that didn’t convince me about Phoenix’s joker was that I always had in mind for Joker a character that was diabolical and unhinged but was ultimately operating at full capacity. Arthur Fleck in this movie is clearly not operating at full capacity, he’s just mentally ill. I just couldn’t buy this character coming up with diabolical schemes to defeat Batman. Great movie though and Phoenix was outstanding.

  • Seeing as Arthur is supposed to have schizophrenia, what if his Joker persona is real because he feels like a different person. He has the confidence as Joker that he doesn't as Authur, so he does lead a clown themed rebellion, and that's what leads him to become an infamous crime lord

  • And as far as the protestor's anticapitalist signs, aren't you aware the movie industry is heavily influenced by jews and historically jews have created communism based on psychotic Marxist class division nonsense in order to destabilize society ultimately resulting in regime change? Come on now. It's propaganda. You younger folks don't understand these things at all because their inexperience prevents them from seeing political patterns over time.

    Universalis TedUniversalis Ted2 aylar önce
  • If The Joker is simply mentally ill then he becomes entirely uninteresting. The movie is a way to inspire young people to copy the joker and pretend to be mentally ill in order to have a sense of identity which is difficult to form in western civilization especially America because one is often disconnected from their ancestral roots. So kids fill the hole in a variety of ways and mental illness is one way to form an identity which also attracts attention. I'm sure medication sales soared after this movie.
