Lots of mispronunciations and misspellings in this one, sorry about that! "ceized" instead of "seized," and "Well-es-lee" instead of "Wells-lee." Thanks! Griff

  • BRITISH nurtured the sense of Nationalist unity among Indian. Before British India Unification there were Mughals, Marathas, punjabis, Rajput etc. Without Unification there would had a Muslim rule in NORTHERN INDIAN PLAINS extending from Afghan borders to Bangladesh In a unit nation or into several nation We should thank British for invading us and nurturing UNITED NATIONALITY and BROTHERHOOD...

  • actually it was NOT the British "empire" that took over india. NO, it was the PRIVATE CORPORATION British East India Company that "took over india". HISTORICAL NOTE: colonizing and controlling india made the British East India Company and its shareholders very VERY wealthy. After the Sepoy Rebellion, the British government took control of india away from The East India Company and implemented direct British government control over india. While the British government controlled india after 1857, it literallly cost "nothing" for the British to maintain control in india as the resources being extracted from india by private companies more than made up for the cost to maintain control in india. That changed in the 20th Century. Starting around the 1920s or so governing india began to be economically costly to the British. It was costing the British government much more to maintain colonial control in india than any economic benefits gained from that colonial control. By the time of World War Two, Britain was hemorrhaging pounds to keep colonial india. At the end of WW2 the British government owed the United States untold billions of dollars in war loans. That is why, over the extremely angry objections of Churchill, Clement Attlee "Quit India" in just little over a year.

BACK TO 21st Century, I want my country, India to have peace and prosperous relationship with U.K. I want my country to progress so that the living standard of the poor people could elevate to an extend where they won't have to struggle to make for living. I know well there were no humble British citizen was involved in such mess same goes for majority of people from Indian subcontinent. The inhuman ultra-elite always have the tendency to ripped off the common man to support their own lavish lives. Same is true for every country in the world were ultra rich are drafting the policies according to their wish and common men are suffering

  • Look at Britain now, a country that's reduced to a puny island. Even Scotland and Ireland want to get out of the union and combined the massive immigration and brexit, it's future is bleak like its warmongering child America. Even their NHS is being systematically dismantled by the Tories. You'll see their citizens dying by the dozens soon. Karma is a bitch isn't it?

  • How to colonize a territory: - Eng, Fr, Neth, Bel: Erase the locals or confine them to reserves, repopulate with your own people, build factories and plantations, get some slaves to work in them, enrich the whites through trade and exploitation of resources, turn it into a puppet/failed state, never totally leave. - Rome, Greece, Spain: Conquer the land by war and agreements, alphabetize and convert the locals, make them your own citizens, build universities, temples and cities, enrich the whites and the locals through trade and exploitation of resources, get looted by your enemies, collapse. - Portugal: Lets do both!

    • @Stratan T. Did you even read my reply, I am blaming it on our governing bodies and political system. Britain and Pakistan are also to be minorly blamed but their impact is nearly insignificant compared to the real problem.

      Jeet TrivediJeet TrivediAylar önce
    • @Jeet Trivedi China which was 100 times worse than India recovered and became the world's 2 biggest economy. Japan is a country with almost no natural resources and 2 of their main citiws got nuked, they recovered and became the world's 3 biggest economy. Germany a country that lost 2 world wars and it'a cities were reduced to rubble recovered and now Germany is an economic power house with tbe world's 4th biggest economy and pretty much ruling the EU. You could probably even add South Koeea to this list. My point is that indians are too proud to realise that they are the problem, they like to blame their problems on Britain, Pakistan, China etc. India is rich in natural resources but if the people don't want change than what's the point of those resources?

      Stratan T.Stratan T.Aylar önce
    • No we don't. The youth of India is not a problem in India. Our government is. We were always taken advantage of. After the british, our own leaders used the entire population for their pockets and even now when we have an actual patriotic prime minister, he is more concerned with India's power and significance in the world which is why he sold the entire country to private companies. Now the richest businessman in India(4th in the world I guess) owns majority of public services which is extremely wrong as private companies are profitable while public services don't seem like something that should be taken profit off. We were left poor by the British but our leaders for the major part did no good to improve it. No wonder the smartest brains of India are no more in India.

  • What's done is done...let's put our differences aside and create a better world. Even in today's date 70 years after British left, we are fighting in the name of religion.... Mughals were no less brutal than the British. This is in our human nature to occupy or torture those whom we think is not our own. Even today many countries are at war, many families live in a constant fear of death and starvation. To be honest, no country teaches us the entire history, so differences as seen in the comment will be there. "History is written by the winners". The British know there side of the story and we know ours. For ex. For us Churchill was a bigger tyrant than hitler, killing million in an ordered famine of Bengal. For them, he is a nationwide celebrated hero..... "Truth is just a glance of perspective". I believe for a happy persom and a happy country only three things are needed, Wine 🍷, literature and sex. Relax guys...have fun and help those in need. As written in Tolstoy's war and peace"Those who can't make love make war". ..

  • Great video, very informative..... however The Map showing the extent of the Maratha rule post the years of Mughal supremacy (1707) seems to be incorrect, around 1758, Marathas had direct control of Land from Cuttack to Attock. Even with declining power, Marathas were the major governing power in India even post Panipat right till the Anglo-Maratha wars.
