  • The video is great, the only problem is: it forgets to explain the fact that "Poland" 20 years earlier didn't exist and its territory prior to 1919 was pretty much divided between the Russian Empire and the German Empire. So naturally, the heirs for these empires , Nazi Germany and the USSR, wanted their territories back. This is what happens when a country is formed with the sole objective of punishing another country, like France and England did to Germany after WWI. Had the Poles fight for independence, I doubted that Germans or Russians would contest it. But the country named Poland was created by taking away territories that belonged to both Russia and Germany. Poland became an independent country, without having a proper process of independence or unification. You only have to look at the map and see the Polish Corridor to realize that many of the historic Prussian areas of Danzig, Konnisberg and others, were now outside of Germany... Any German with a hint of nationalism would find that very odd and feel tempted to get it back .France and England punished all of the losing parties of WWI, by dismembering their countries, and awarding these new territories either to themselves or to new allies. After WWI Germany lost all its colonies. In sum, Germany forfeited 13 percent of its European territory (more than 27,000 square miles) and one-tenth of its population (between 6.5 and 7 million people). As a result, the Republic of Austria lost roughly 60% of the old Austrian Empire's territory and the Ottoman Empire lost nearly 80% of its territory or 4/5 of its lands and more than 2 thirds of its European Provinces. It's really a miracle that World War 2 didn't start a week after the Treaty of Versailles.

    Gus BrunsonGus Brunson16 gün önce
    • WOW, did you realise just now how Versailles couldn’t work? But in all seriousness, apart from the Polish Corridor, most of the land that comprised Poland had a Polish majority has its main linguistic and ethnic group, was mainly Catholic, and was, historically, Polish territory. With all of that, I don’t think you could say those territories weren’t Polish, since they were, even if there wasn’t a country called “Poland”. The main problem with Poland as a state was, as I mentioned, the Corridor, wich is the only true example of the borders being arbitrarily drawn. It was also why Danzig was half Polish, half German, kinda, maybe, and also the main cause of problems with the Moustache Man...

  • What a shame that some grandchildren and/or great grandchildren of those who sacrificed their lives to protect Poland back in the days of WW2 now go full nazi, especially during marches on polish Independence Day. Seriousely, some dumb people became the exact thing their ancestors were fighting with. It's terrifying.

    Matea RMatea R26 gün önce
    • 1. They are not Nazis, Independance marches are organised by National Democrats an All Polish Youth ,open for all, so sometimes fringe groups cling into those but majority are normal people celebrating independance 2. Interwar and WW2 Poland was not democratic nor tolerant and actually had better relations with Axis countries (excluding Germany) than with its allies in West Japan literally rejected Polish war declaration and Polish resistance was sending intel about Germans and Soviets to Japanise Empire, Mussolini rescued over 100 Polish profesors from German concentration camp, not to mention Hungarians that literally trated Poles as their allies and outhright refused to fight them 3. WW2 veterans in Poland and people that survived WW2 vote overwhelmingly right or far right so why think they actually disaprove?
