Linimo is one of only two Maglev (magnetic levitation) trains in the world that's open for anyone to use. You can find it in Aichi prefecture, Japan, and it's pretty awesome!! I had no idea it was a Maglev the first time I rode on it and was actually more surprised by the fact that there was no driver. And lo and behold what do I find out after looking it up! Who knew?! It's a super smooth ride, 10/10 A+ would ride again.

  • I’m surprised the they made this video but none on the Shinkansen or Scmaglev Good video tho

  • The problem is low speed trains is that they cost so much more than standard rail. Modern rail is very cost efficient. Maglev is great for high-speed lines but for low speed, it can't really compete. It's simple cost of materials: 2 rails and the railbed is much more commoditized than the special materials needed for maglev.

  • I rode this train back in 2014 to get to the Toyota Auto Museum. Had no idea it was a maglev then and thought it was weird no one was operating it. A very nice high school lady helped me get my ticket even though I could choose the English settings. It was a very nice gesture and was amazed by her English :) I figured it was a school train because only young people were on it and it looked like a school.

  • The maglev train was actually created when the marvel character, Magneto, accidentally ejaculated on the wheels of a regular train, which caused the train to 'level up' and levitate like some kind of super saijian. Japanese scientists then collected samples of his sperm and then mass produced the maglev. Scientists speculate if magneto were to ejaculate a second time the maglev would upgrade to its final form; a giant levitating sushi train, large enough to solve world hunger. According to Japanese engineers this is called the magneto masterbation training phenomenon.

  • ohhh this is so cool i never knew there were only two in the whole world. I've actually been in the one in Shanghai, i remeber it was 300km/h it was super fast. I remember there was a few minutes where the train was slanted at an angle, but no one in the train felt the slant cause we were travelling so fast (*´▽`*)

  • oh! those are the types of trains we have here in Dubai! its amazing how there's legit no driver and it gives a better view of the city since the front and back parts of the trains have no driver's cabins and makes passengers able to see what's ahead of them :) also unlike other trains, thy move more smoothly and no bumps whatsoever.

  • I still don't get all the hype about maglev trains. This was exciting news maybe 15-20 years ago. They honestly took too long to finally build it, and now the hyperloop is literally right around the corner with 4-5 times the speed - and quite frankly, probably better safety to boot. This vid really brings me into the past, lol.

    MulinasterMulinaster3 yıl önce
    • Mulinaster I don't know about better safety or even being more interesting. Having an accident in a vacuum seems deadly and then not being able to see it if the train window doesn't seem interesting.

  • Rachel and Jun- I was in Japan in 2005 and would love to go back but I have a question. I'm in a wheelchair. When I was in Japan before, I could still walk so if something wasn't accessible it was no big deal because I could just get up and walk. I can't walk anymore so i wonder is Japan very accessible? Also, when I was there, everyone was very polite, but some people seemed almost afraid of my chair. is there some cultural stigma attached to being disabled? I'd love to study abroad in Japan so answers to these questions would really help.
