I hate it when people talk trash to him. But when he saves the day, he is praised.
So if I remember correctly, this movie follows the light novels story more. In which kazuma and megumin are actually together, be it secretly from the rest of the gang. So that’s why megumin shows a lot of interest in those scenes, which can seem to be out of character. It’s because she’s the megumin from the light novel.

For people wondering, this movie adapted the 5th volume of the light novel. So S1, S2, and the Movie are the first 5 volumes of the books. The light novels have ended, so there's not exactly a great chance we'll get another season, but I highly recommend picking up the books, and you can start with Volume 6 to pick up where the movie left off. I'm personally in the process of reading Volume 9 and there just as hilarious as the anime.

For comparison, Megumin, one of the highest-level Mages after taking down several generals and other high-level enemies is around level 40 at the end of the series. The 'school' that they talk about earlier on, practices in power-levelling students to learn Advanced Magic to graduate. Komekko is at that level NOW.
