  • I just finished watching The Good Place and it was just incredible. It’s relatively short with 4 seasons not tipping 15 episodes each. It’s a brilliant classic comedy with a joke every second but also combines the nuances of morality and life after death. It makes you face your own self and I strongly recommend! (Also it Mike Schur soooo that’s a winning argument)

  • i really recommend "please like me" a comedy series from netflix. it's australian and it's SO FUNNY and their acting is so natural, because the cast's relationships are real!! and it's basically a autobiography (?) of the main character. 10/10

  • This list should include Derry Girls . I don't know why people are sleeping on it. It's such a great show. The dark comedy is just brilliant and the cast is amazing. It is seriously the only female narrative tha teenage girls need.

  • I love you, I love your videos!! I did want to point out though, when talking about The Girlfriend Experience, the main character is a high class escort/SB, not a prostitute. Slightly different, especially given her pay grade. Also, most sex workers today tend to avoid using the word prostitute, especially if they live in a place (like the US) where prostitution is technically illegal. Just wanted you to know 🥰

  • I’m literally 13 and I could still relate to some topics brought up in Bojack Horseman (obviously not the drugs and sex etc). I sometimes couldn’t believe how accurate the characters feelings were . It wasn’t forced or unrealistic at all. It was raw and comforting to know that their emotions were similar to mine rather than a television edited version. Also, I just wanted to say how detailed the second to last episode is (the view from halfway down). I got chills once I realised all the little details there were. In the house from bojacks dream, there was the same furniture and wall art from his childhood home and his mansion. He gave his mother hydrangeas, which are a symbol of regret in some cultures. He told the waiter that his water tasted like chlorine, whilst he was unconsciously drowning in the swimming pool. Secretariats poem the episode was named after about him jumping of the bridge goes from third person, to second person, to first person. Also, in the last episode, bojack and dianne are siting on the roof. As they are talking, bojack says: “life’s a bitch and the you die.” And dianne replies with: “sometimes, life’s a bitch and then you keep living.” That line spoke to me the most out of any in every show that I’ve watched so far.

  • Hi everyone! Just now getting a chance to watch this video and if you have a similar taste to Ashley (as I do, I had actually seen 90 percent of her recommendations) I recommend slice of life anime and psychological thriller anime! In the last year I have really branched into anime after meeting a friend in college that clued me into attack on titan as an action /adventure story that turned quite political. Some of the best slice of life and sometimes dark and yet beautiful pieces of cinema I have found are in romance / psychological thriller anime. One of the most heartfelt anime I have seen that touches on dark topics like cancer, childhood trauma, pressure and competition was Your Lie in April. On top of being beautifully animated with an amazing soundtrack it was a well rounded story that made you self reflect on how our childhood experiences shape us. Another great anime that touched on the idea of memory and how our memories define who we are was Golden Time. Lastly for those really dark fans out there who may even like SyFy /Horror, Parasite the Maxim was an incredible story on humanity and what makes us human. For more of a psychologic thriller I recommend Perfect Blue. It is a mind bending story about a young celebrity women who wants to change her image to the scorn of a stalker fan who wants to "save her" from herself. Dealing with a drastic image change and a stalker forces her to truly ask herself who she is and what defines her outside of the public eye. Hope everyone is staying healthy and safe during this time. If anyone gets a chance to read this / check out these recommendations please feel free to let me know what you think!

  • watch feel good!! it’s a sitcom, so funny and the writer is a stand up comedian where she’s actually the main character and while the exact events in the show are fictional, it’s still heavily based on her life irl. it’s a super quick watch, there’s only one season out rn and it takes abt 2-3 hours to get through the entire season. i already watched it like 4 times lmao

  • Omg I remember when I first watched Bojack Horseman. Someone at school told me that it was funny and I should watch it and ALL I DID WAS SOB. I was so angry because all I was looking for was something that I could play in the background when I wanted to turn my mind off not a amazing show that would keep be hooked for years and make me confront my problems.

  • Not seeing much love for Westworld here, and while the second and third seasons aren’t as great as the first, it’s still a great trippy, mindbending, often surprisingly existential sci-fi with frankly unbelievably high production value. Like Game of Thrones level

  • Within the genre of this video, I HIGHLY recommend the midnight gospel. The audio comes from a podcast hosted by the co creator himself, and it’s one of those that you have to sit back, process, and even rewatch but it’s amazing.

At the same time you have your own library of what you have watched as well as you can save things you want to watch in the future, I love to have an overview haha 💜
