    • and... the continuing story is crazy ...Christopher Columbus... Fall of Constantinople etc.. - Władysław II Jagiełło the king commanding this battle, has a son Władysław III (Władysław of Varna) - His son becomes king of Poland and Hungary, and dies 1444 during the lost battle of Varna commanding the forces of Christian countries. Battle of Grunwald destroyed strength Teutonic Order and also killed many Polish knights, 10,000 heavy-armed knights were killed. The specificity of this battle was that the best units were destroyed, their lack and the concentration of Poland and its allies in the north opened the way for Muslims in the south. about 34 years later, Polish knights stood side by side with the rest of Teutonic knights, repelling a Muslim attack. - 1453 Fall of Constantinople winning at Varna allowed Muslim to surround and cut off Christian support for Constantinople. - Władysław III was most likely to by father of ... Christopher Columbus

    • 14:25 Poland did not "incorporate" Lithuania; Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Kingdom of Poland formed a Commonwealth with the power divided somewhat equally between the two with the Union of Lublin in 1569. It is only because of centuries of cultural Polonization of the elites of the GDL and Poland's far more favorable geopolitical situation in the 20th century that the simplistic narrative of Poland's weight within the Commonwealth has become so prevalent. It's a narrative that might be fitting for a "7 history facts" type of video, but not for one which discusses arguably the greatest military move of the early 15th century: the feigned retreat of Vytautas Magnus/Vytautas the Great. You know, the guy who expanded the Grand Duchy of Lithuania into the largest continental European nation by his death in 1430, and the one you refer to as a Pole? @The Armchair Historian please, stop perpetuating a reductive view and correct this.

    • Maybe u dont know but marlbork was not seized immediately after battle thx to pope threatening king jagiello with same item they used against luther. So the king was in fear for 6 months waiting with attack on teuton capital marlbork. There are proves that pope did it after finding out that most of german/ holy roman banners was killed on that day. The whole fortress had less than 500 men defending marlbork after grunwald. U put in too much glory to crusaders. Jungingen proved to be egocentric fool and jagiello used his greed against him. Two swords symbolize war not some bullshit chitchat like u claim. Back then u know armies were facing each other and then talking about fighting or not. Its not like they had some facebbokk or twitter to book battle on specific day. So many things u got entirely wrong here that its beyond me. Guess that what happens when u read history books made by germans.... Btw jegiello maybe went christianity way but for his benefit and lithuania, till death he was doing pagan holidays and pagan culture of nature and sun...

  • Everything would be fine, only the battle took place on the territory of the order, where the Poles invaded, and not as drawn. Also forgot to say that not only Lithuanians were with the Poles. The correct name is "The Grand Duchy Lithuanian, Russian and Zemaitian". 80% of the population there were Russians. Like those Smolensk regiments, which you still mentioned.

  • 11:36 I’m seriously wondering why the reserve cavalry wasn’t used to wrap around the top of the Polish right flank in order to surround and route the poles and free up the forces of that flank for another encirclement around the left flank. Maybe the map doesn’t show something that would have prevented this?

  • imo calling Battle of grunwald as st battle of tannenberg is not correct bc the battle of grunwald is battle between Poland and German Knight Monastery and Battle of tannenberg is bettle between Russia and German nd Reish (whose was allied with main polish independent movement - Polish Legions) by what this name is haven't sense (bc how this battle can be nd when both parties of conflict fight together with other rival) maby this is correct for side of battle but germans names this battle as ,,revange for Grunwald'' what makes (how I explain before) this name senseless. And pls no write that poland and russia is almost same country bc this is very VERY big mistake

  • Yor maps are terrible. Warsaw was not the capital of Poland. Warsaw became the capital only in 1596. The Teutonic Order occupied Polish lands a year earlier. The Polish expedition was a retaliation. The battle took place on the lands of the Teutonic Order, but not those taken, but those that were in its possession earlier.

  • I doubt about that claim of "light cavalry" of Lithuanians. How do you imagine a frontal attack of a light armoured against heavy cavalry? The doubts strenghen when you read how Jan Dlugosh describes the formation of Lithuanian cavary. The only light cavalry on the battle field could be those 3000 Tatars of Jalal al-Din.

  • How should I say it? I don't want to offend you, as overall I actually like what you are doing, but... in this show there are so many mistakes that sometimes is hard to listen. You should straighten the facts... some of those mistakes are: capital of Poland back then was Krakow, estimated numbers of forces where bigger by around 10k if I remember correctly; there was no infantry units-> it's cavalry battle; no infantry can keep that marching pace that they were doing (approx. 40km a day); Polish forces haven't set them self in forest, it happened that they where resting there when those army met by a chance; Those barrages couldn't do a thing as back then the artillery was almost useless; Very important fact of this campaign you missed is a floating bridge on Vistula river, that Polish Army (which length traveling as columns was approx 30km) use to cross Vistula river...; and by the way there was only approx. 250 Teutonic knights (from which about 10 survived) , rest of order force were all kind of foreign knights from western Europe, invited or bought to fight 'pagans'... if you call yourself historian then please don't be ignorant and always check facts, not all sources are correct especially written so long after the event, you should know it... I wishing you all the best and plenty of success in further revealing mystery of history ;)
