When Charlie Babbitt goes home to the Midwest for his estranged father's funeral, he learns not only that he's been cut out of his inheritance, but that he has a grown brother...Raymond...who has been sheltered almost all of his life in an East Coast institution for the developmentally disabled. Raymond is an autistic savant...a person who is severely limited in most mental areas but extremely gifted in others. After traveling to the institution, Charlie kidnaps Raymond but then finds that Raymond will only fly Qantas. The two then begin a long cross-country odyssey in their father's 1949 Buick Roadmaster convertible...a trip that will lead them to understanding and love, and for Charlie a kind of redemption.

  • The head bump between Ray and Charlie is one of the most emotionally powerful scenes in movies, ever.

  • I am told the god is ultimate, god is perfect. A perfect must create a perfect (should we call it the WORLD). A creator's world must be perfect. But I don't see it as being perfect, that means I cannot see the perfection, it only means one thing, I am imperfect because I cannot see the perfect world of a perfect god..... I should better leave now, I know how it feels when you are straight jacketed.

  • Morrow created the character of Raymond after meeting Kim Peek, a real-life savant; his characterization was based on both Peek and Bill Sackter, a good friend of Morrow who was the subject of Bill, an earlier film that Morrow wrote. Rain Man was the highest-grossing film of 1988. This is not a true story it’s a great story about a autistic savant. I have a child with ASD he functions way higher than Kim Peek did. He’s not a savant but overall doesn’t require the 24/7 care he did. Kim had a great ability with great disability. My son fortunately does not have the debilitating part of Autism. When he was little it was hard on him but as he’s grown he’s become much better.

  • RainMan is a classic, cinematic masterpiece/masterclass of a movie from one of the best decades/era of the 20th century/1980s! Dustin Hoffman's and Tom Cruise's performances were absolutely amazing! Magnificent actors/thespians! Excellent casting! Terrific script/screenplay! Wonderful soundtrack! Perfect direction/directing from Mr. Barry Levinson! Thank you so much for this movie upload.

    • Unfortunately Charlie and Raymond are not real people. Raymond is based on Kim Peck’s abilities. He wasn’t on autistic savant. He lived in Salt Lake City Utah and his father was his primary care provider. This is just a story. The Vegas stuff never happened however Kim his memorization skills were unparalleled. He was amazing but also required 24/7 care. Based more on understanding a mental disorder. I have a child with ASD he functions very high fortunately more info has come out about healing ASD.
