See Thru Liquid Piston Rotary Engine - In Slow Motion

I Run The Liquid Piston Rotary Engine in Slow Motion with all the Inventors and Engineers at LiquidPiston (A Worlds First) to see what is happening inside this new revolutionary Rotary Engine While it's running and how it's so much different than the Wankel Rotary Engine produced by Mazda for the RX7.
This engine reminds me of the Mazda Wankle rotary engine but the difference is it seems like they have solved all of the issues that the Mazda engine had.
I am very excited to see where this engine is going I would love to see this thing powering a car because the power to weight ratio is absolutely insane and the thermal efficiency is out of this world.

This was over twenty five years ago and I'm very pleased to see that the rotary engine has advanced to this incredible engine.   • Very cool - rotaries always were cool. So what's the next step? Certainly all these smart engineers didn't work to make a better lawn mower engine. Where does this go? Or was it just a theoretical idea proved at a small scale? In order to make a rotary a staple of the auto/farm industry, efficiency has to be addressed. Nothing was said about fuel efficient of this engine. Again, very cool... But the video just showed us it would run. Where do we go from here?

  • Great engineering and concept BUT It's never going to be a success obviously due to emissions cut backs. IF ONLY the world would realise the ONLY way forward for mankind is to cut back on world population. This wonderful planet CAN cope with all sorts of pollution it can neutralise everything harmful AS LONG as it is NOT OVERLOADED. WE could continue with internal combustion engines for as long as we had fuel. Remember that living vegetation NEEDS CO2 to live. We just need to balance the shear amount of people and animals living on the is planet.   • If the apex seals were the downfall of the Mazda rotary why does this engine have them incorporated fixed in the perimeter. I do see the combustion chamber has a half moon shape progressing into a 'more' circular design so specific fuel consumption should improve slightly over the Mazda design however I doubt it will equal or beat that of current piston engines. Another troublesome point is all forces for each of the combustion chambers were focused on the same side of the piston which could shorten its life. That is like each piston having 3 times the event cycles than a standard piston engine for each rotation of the crank making the piston stress events 6 times more than a standard 4 stroke piston. If the engine operates at a 1/6 rpm to equalize stresses the longer dwell time for each event might compensate with better overall fuel economy.

  • On the spot of the rotor, where the combustion happens, the rotor has cooling-fins on the other side, so that this thermally overloaded part of the rotor cools better... And the apex-seals have a huge amount of aluminum-casing backing them, which can additionali get actively cooled with coolant-piping, all in opposition to the Wankel-engine... And of cource, the different thermodynamic cycles combined here...

  • The ignition seems to come a split second too early. You can see the explosion extend on both sides creating a counter rotation force as well. I used to have an RX7 in mid 80s. Great car. Loved it. This small 4 hp rotary could power a moped or lawnmower, power generator or pump.

    • No its not. The reason this works is the other sides are ignited and pushong on it too at the same time driving it through the compression stroke. A wankel engine slows down or kicks backwards under high compression but this cant

    • Fuel does not explode, it ignites and Burns. The spark has to be advanced so when the flame propagates (Which takes time) it can give max pressure when the piston is in the optimum position rotating away.

  • Hi I'm from New Zealand and iv been playing around with rotaries since the 80s,looks like the intake through the crank would limit its power as its a fixed size port with no way to make it bigger for more power, apex seals have improved and also so has the engineering of rotaries with a lot of aftermarket bits for them,the original NSU rotary had the crazy design of a motor compared to Mazdas interation of the motor, great vid tho

  • Google is fucking creepy. Was talking with the owner of a japanese car that looked like my RX7 but was a toyota M2, i believe. Cant rem exactly. He was on his phone taking pictures of his car as we talked about our cars. We talked about the rx7 having a rotary engine. Not seen a YT clip of a rotary engine in over two years now but the very day after i was talking to this guy about the rotary engine i get this suggestion? You know google is listening to our coversations. What is even more creepy is that google managed to identify ME through his phone somehow. This clip being suggested is not coincidence. Not by any fucking means. Google is spying on people and recording audio. Scary shit. I dont accept 3rd party cookies. I have java disabled. I dont allow google to store history. When i click on YT i get the same clips shown to me on the landing page over and over again. The same ones.
