    • Dear Critical Role, do you think it would be possible to get Stephen Colbert as a guest on Critical Role ? It would be actually amazing if he used his bard character, but that is a detail.

    • We watched this at home as a family and all loved it. My sons still talk about this adventure every few days as an example of how a short mission can be enthralling and concise. They want more family friendly exciting short tales. Does anyone have any recommendations?

  • Ended up here following a 'suggestion' from a Late Show with Stephen Colbert, about a month ago. My first encounter with Critical Role, and pretty much watched at least one episode a day of the first campaign since :D Soo looking forward to the animated show taking off! (too cool if Colbert could cameo in it)

  • At some point, a certain half-elven bard may pine for his long lost friend, and wander into Nicodranus. There he will sing to himself on a corner, noticing the enraptured gaze of a young halfling boy with a grappling hook and his blink doggo. Capo will smile, telling the boy of adventures yet to come, neatly dodging the misfired crossbow bolts as the boy's father runs after him. Somewhere, Nott the Brave smiles for no discernable reason.

  • Letting him roll his own perception checks? WTF?

    a8lg6pa8lg6p15 gün önce
    • @a8lg6p I had never thought about it this way, but most of not all of the players never metagame (especially Travis and Sam) so I guess Matt just trust them to do it. It also allows them to roleplay it, which they wouldn't be able to do if the didn't know what was rolled. I guess that as a lot of other stuff in D&D everyone has his way to do it ^^

      BmanBman11 gün önce
    • "Make a perception check." "I rolled a one." "Ok. You don't see or hear anything unusual." "I draw my sword and look behind me. Just, you know, on a whim..." vs "Is anything nearby?" [Sound of dice.] No, definitely not. Just the sound of a buzzing bee and the breeze blowing through the trees. "Hmm..."

      a8lg6pa8lg6p13 gün önce
    • @Bman Because then you might have a pretty good guess whether the DM is lying or not, giving you meta-game knowledge you then have to pretend you don't have, possibly breaking suspense, etc. As I recall, many books suggest the GM/DM should make checks like that in secret for those reasons. Kinda like how poker would be a lot less fun if all the cards were face down on the table.

      a8lg6pa8lg6p13 gün önce
    • Well yes, that's what he does all the time, why does that surprise you?

      BmanBman13 gün önce
  • 45:20 - that hit totally was supposed to kill Stephen, I'm gonna guess we see Matthew Mercer double checking to make sure he fudges the dice just enough to give him 1hp

    atomheartotheratomheartother15 gün önce
    • Oh absolutely no problem, fudging dice is part of the fun of the game, but it's fun for us to get to see the moment where he goes "Ah, fuck, that was a bit too strong"

      atomheartotheratomheartother13 gün önce
    • atomheartother I agree, he definitely pulled the killing blow. He knew Stephen had 15 hit points and he knew 29 was the most he could do. I have no problem with it though!
