  • If you're really interest in history and honestly want to tell it as it is, you should not keep on repeating the US' propaganda about the Geneva Accords of 1954. Please read the documents yourself. Nowhere in those documents stipulates and nobody talks about the division of Vietnam into two separate states. Both Vietnamese governments at that time, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the French puppet State of Vietnam claim the whole Vietnam and oppose any division. In fact, the Accords specifically say that 'the military demarcation line is provisional and should not in any way be interpreted as constituting a political or territorial boundary.' So you're completely wrong when you said the division into two separate states was a result on the Accords.

  • Fact: when someone praises Vietnam or people in vietnam celebrate the country's anniversary , there will be some distorted comments from exiled traitors who agree with what the United States has done to Vietnam. They always find ways to distort the history of Vietnam, distort the Vietnamese government because of the bitterness. We often call them "3 rods".

  • Nationwide fellow! We want peace, we must make concessions. But the more we conceded, the more French colonialists came, because they were determined to rob our country again! Are not! We would rather sacrifice everything, but definitely refuse to lose our country, and definitely refuse to be slaves. Dear fellow! We must stand up! Any man, woman, any old person, young person, regardless of religion, party, or ethnicity. As a Vietnamese, they must stand up to fight the French colonialists and save the country. Who has a gun gunpoint. Whoever has a sword uses a sword, but who does not have a sword, use a hoe, a spade, and a stick. Everyone had to fight against the French colonialists to save their country. Brethren soldiers, self-defense, the militia! Time to save the country. We must sacrifice up to the last drop of blood, to preserve the country. Despite the hardships of the resistance war, but with a determination to sacrifice and victory for our people! Vietnam is independent and unified for years Resistance war victory Viva Hanoi, December 19, 1946 Ho Chi Minh

  • Its also important to note that the southern government did not accept the outcome of the Geneva confrence. The US used this as a pretext to also reject the outcome, preventing the agreed to elections for a unified state and backing an anti-communist government in the South. Kind of like the USSR in North Korea.

  • 13:41 Vietnam was not divided, The 17th parallel was just a "provisional military demarcation line". The division of Vietnam was intended to be temporary, with elections planned for in 1956 to reunify the country.

This battle is just incredible and must be the most heroic defense of the last 70 years.

  • There's an interesting point. The Viet Minh cannons used to fight were all from China. Since they could not transport them by directing to the battle, they removed every part of the cannons and left it down the Red River. At a secret gathering point near the riverbank, they would take it back and build cannons. Even when they opened the way to drag cannons into Dien Bien Phu, it was a job to prevent the French discovery

  • The Vietnamese are just being too kind to the imperialist, if it is me I wouldn't send my men to capture those forts immediately, but instead, deploy more anti air guns and artillery to starve these enemies to death while they are still desperate sending more supplies and men into the fortifications, draining their country of war efforts.

  • So basically the French built their fortification in the middle of nowhere where it is difficult if not outright impossible to resupply during battle, let themselves get surrounded on all sides in the hopes that the enemy destroys themselves assaulting their defenses?????? France you just stick to waving white flags and baking your baguettes and never ever go to war again.
