It's surprisingly how much emphasis the CCP puts in the victory of the KMT due to the support of the overwhelmingly lower class peasant Chinese. This is something overly said in CCP today. Although somewhat true that support of the people definitely help booster their numbers, a lot has to do with the weakness of the KMT and the aftermath of WWII. KMT was severely weakened after the war and barely got consistent aid from the US while Europe got most of it to rebuild. I did my own research and found that some Americans was actually skeptical of the KMT and was actually considering backing Mao as an alternative. Contrast this to the Soviets that occupied Manchuria and North Korea after Japan's surrender, they provided much aid and a base for Mao's forces to be ready for the civil war that is to come. And like the video said, the KMT suffered much of the damage from Japanese prior and lost many well trained divisions. Support of the people is indeed helpful but I don't think it was main stimulus that helped the CCP win. Liu Bei of the Three Kingdoms supposedly had the common people's support and even talented men but couldn't unite China. Why? Power and resources were also held by Cao Cao and Sun Quan. Thus my thesis for the victory of the CCP is that a weakened KMT and fewer support from its allies gave the CCP the momentum to pivot and seize China

This video only touched on what happened but not why it happened, a major failure really when trying to explain why china is communist which is on your thumbnail, The reason why China and Russia/Soviet Union became and adopted Communism has much to do with both countries being an agrarian state, the peasants were starving and exploited by the aristocracy, revolutions at that scale and support for it don't happen so easily unless the ordinary people are desperate, and Communism won in both countries due to the mass support of the people, Whether or not it was good or bad is another debate, but the main reason why these 2 major countries ended up being communist is due to factors at the time and there was mass support for it at the time, that is simply it.

We all love to blame the communist. But the problem started by the Nationalist themselves. Basically Nationalist government back then is the government of the privileged for the privileged. Not just they busy fighting among themselves, but the landowners and military leaders finance their wars and lavish lifestyle by heavily taxing and even confiscating the property of the Chinese peasants. What they did is creating an opening for the Communist to foment further discontent. While Nationalist leaders confiscating land, the Communist distribute them to the peasants. Also to note, it was the Nationalist that started the war. They launch a surprise attack against the Communist militia in the middle of the negotiation to form a unity government. In the end, despite Nationalist holding a numerical and technological superiority over the communist, not to mention a generous donation of money and weapons from US, they were still defeated and driven away from mainland China.

We are now on a right track, whatever the economy, technology, education and infrastructure, these tremendous achievements are all build from the correct leadership from CCP. Yes, CCP truly made some mistakes in the past, like culture revolution. But we already realize this is a big mistake. it's always weird to see people don't includes Tibet as part of ROC. If you search for the historical documents, you can see although Tibet is very autonomous, it actually still part of the ROC, this including the laws/by-law from Tibet would need to be approved by Nanking government (Nanking never turned down) and elected/appointed reps by Kashag to attend National assembly and Legislative Yuan. Tibet gained its short independents when communists taking over mainland China, as Kashag believe communists would give them more freedom than ROC government would and refuse ROCA retreat into Tibet.
Fortunately for Mao and Chinese communists the United States was led by Truman and a Democrat controlled Congress. Why they didn’t see the need to stop communism from taking over the worlds most populous nation is beyond me. China was in a really bad shape after WW2, and KMT failed to lead the country-- actually worse. That's the major reason why did KMT lost the civil war, because it failed the Chinese people, and CPC didn't.
It's really time for Westerners to abandon the 19th century Wade-Giles romanization system of Chinese words and the pronunciation of words based on that. Pinyin has been the standard romanization since the 1950s, and would help you pronounce names like Mao Ze Dong correctly.

And this Jurchen dynasty was so paranoid that the Chinese might overthrow them one day so they forbid the Chinese from practicing martial arts, and later banned all foreign trade to minimize outside influence. One thing have to be known, in the beginning of civil war, the KMT owned 3 million of troops but the CCP owned only 0.3 million. The KMT is supported by the U.S.(weapons and ammunations, tranning, transports of troops etc.) , but the CCP isn't fully supported by the USSR.

However, the Trotskyists within USSR and CCP insisted on a "Permanent Revolution" and ordered CCP to plot against KMT through the Third International. Instead of supporting the CCP, this event actually caused a fall out between the CCP and USSR, with the CCP starting to ignore orders given by the Third International.
