  • 5 GHz WiFi doesn't work well in my house, the signal is attenuated by the construction materials in the house. Even 2.4 GHz has some attenuation in my house but it's not as bad as 5. So 6 GHz has absolutely no use for me.

Come on. Step up your game. This is living on the Internet forever. Even your quickies should be smart/well-written.

  • When the government gets out of the way and stops over regulating things we as consumers tend to win(look at the evolution of radio wave usage in the last 50 years, which in more recent years the deregulation has caused a massive boom in wifi, and cell services). The good thing here is many of these companies are already looking to self regulate to avoid any sort of issues with other services. The free market isn't such a terrible thing, when companies are willing to do the right thing and not get the government involved in creating their own monopoly over things.

  • If you want speed(bandwidth), plug in a cable. Surely the benefit of wifi is the lack of tether, so short range wifi is see no use for.. I don't even use 5ghz. The range is terrible and does anyone have a use for 100+mbit to their phone?

  • Isn't going higher frequency waves kinda unhealthy and cause more heat? LTE is already heating. 5G with it's high frequency will suffer due to lack of penatration issues. Placing a pole everywhere in the country sounds kinda dumb. 2G had good reception but with LTE it's suffers in rural areas. I wonder if it's the right way to go coz if it goes like this, it will be a dead end soon.

    Akhilesh HAkhilesh H26 gün önce
    • No, the higher frequency will be just fine. A common misconception is that because microwave ovens and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi use the same frequency, they will both heat things up around them. This is not true. Your microwave oven outputs 100s of Watts of power, a Wi-Fi router generally outputs only 0.4 Watts of power.

  • Hi Linus & team, Here's an idea about a future video - why isn't Android more like Windows? What I mean by that is: - why can't Android be installed on phones just like you can install windows on laptops/desktops; - why aren't updates for Android coming directly from Google (with the exception of Pixel phones) just like Microsoft delivers every windows update, regardless of who makes the PC in question. I know each OEM has its own hardware but to my knowledge, apart from the camera, almost everything else on a phone is standardised, just like with a PC. If Microsoft has to support Intel, AMD and ARM CPUs and is still able to deliver updates to all devices directly (although with varying degrees of quality, as we can see in the last couple of years), why can't Google do the same? Is it because they just don't want to simply due to the fact that the current operating model is more profitable then the one adopted by Microsoft or do phones present a different challenge as opposed to PCs? #makeandroidwindowseragain

Although Huawei licenced it straight up.
