Vizio P Series Quantum X Unboxing and Basic Setup: Big, Bright, and Bold

For 2019 Vizio is taking on the top tier manufacturers like LG and Samsung with the Vizio P Series Quantum X 4K UHD TV. Boasting a peak brightness of 2900 nits the Quantum X is pushing the limits of HDR.
Watch as we unbox the 65 inch Vizio P Quantum X and set it up.
With upcoming support for Apple Airplay 2 and HomeKit coming to its SmartCast 3.0 smart TV platform, the Vizio P Series Quantum X is also a great choice for Apple users.
Editors note: Currently all 2019 Vizio models have TRvision and TRvision TV installed. Early 2019 models did ship without getting certified by TRvision.

  • Where is vizio from? Canada? Us?

  • Received my 75" Quantum X last night ..... was very excited till I opened the box, installed the wall mount, took off the front protection only to find ...... the screen was cracked from top left corner down to the bottom right corner with the top left corner being fully crushed. Trying to decide whether to chance reordering another or to give the TCL 6 Series 75" a shot since it is In Stock at my local Best Buy. Any thoughts on the comparison between the TCL and Vizio? I saw the comparison between the TCL and Sony X950G's ...... but was curious about the TCL vs Vizio Quantum X comparison/thoughts?

  • I have the 2018 P series and was easy to mount for one person. I have mine set up a bit different but three years and solid as a rock. I have a Entertainment Center with two piers and one upper bridge. I mounted three 2X4’s between the piers, a piece of plywood to the 2X4, flat black pint and some black cloth to provide a black background. Mounted a wall mount kit to the center 2X4 and the TV to the wall mount kit. The wall mount kit is pretty much full range tilt left/right and telescoping. Basically looks like a professionally mounted wall mount kit but with the look and decor of a entertainment center. I have a puppy and don’t have to worry about him knocking it over. The 65” model VIZIOS can be mounted with one person. The mounting kit can be lowered to meet the screws or the TV base can be raised a slight bit for the mounting screws to attach. For a bit of extra security I installed the outrigger base legs. They provide outer stability without excess tension on the entertainment center shelf or extra stress on the TV cabinet. Excellent view good photo and easy to mount. By most professional standards For my viewing area I could go to 70” but sacrificed a slight screen size for updated technology. The entertainment center has a cutout which could probably go to 75” but the 65” is a good fit. If the P65-E1 series lasts as long as previous VIZIO models then who knows where the technology will be in five-ten years or more.

    • 42 inches? There are phones bigger than that these days, the smallest OLED is 55” and for a reason, immersivity.

    • Vizio put TV tuners back in. However, legally manufacturers can't call a TV a TV if it doesn't have a tuner. Vizio called theirs a "home theater display"

  • Looks like total crap.. big coloration dots and diagonal lines all over the screen is what I'm seeing. After just watching a lot of Samsung, Sony, LG video's.. this one is just as I said.. total crap. Am I missing something? Or did this video show something on the screen that's not actually there? Need some explanation on those horrible dots all over the screen.

  • Reached out to vizio on the missing TRvision app. "Hi , currently all out 2019 models have TRvision and TRvision TV installed. Our early 2019 models did ship without getting certified by TRvision. This certification is required in order to have the app listed on the SmartCast input. Some reviewers like the one you mentioned from Digital Trends did not have the certification yet. Luckily, that has since been resolved and SmartCast 3.0 will not be removing TRvision or TRvision TV. I hope that clears things up a bit! - Vizio"

  • Caleb, thanks for your great review. I especially like your pointing out the poor software that Vizio continues to run with. This reminds me of when they released their new top lines w/o a remote, but instead, a tablet, again forcing you into their casting process which many people did not like. And what about those stupid legs? I spend $10 per month for TRvision Premium. Other than Amazon, who choses to omit TRvision from their built-in app selection? I suppose it goes w/o saying there was no TRvision TV app either? Is Vizio still trying to play the "bang-for-the-buck" card on units like this? They just elevate the suggested retail price so that when we see them being blown out at Costco for less than $1500 later this year, we will think it's such a great deal for a TV that supposedly competes against the LG OLED. That's a laugh! If it weren't for the brightness levels, nobody would give them a second look.

  • Honestly I personally love the whole SmartCast OS that Vizio uses for the TV, it’s my favorite TV OS with Web OS being my second favorite one.

  • When you do the test, check for gray uniformity issues. Make the room as dark as possible, put a hockey game on, and watch at somewhat of an angle. I bought 2 vizio p 2018 65" tvs that I had to return due to dirty screen effect. I ended up settling for the samsung nu8000, the quality control was much better on that TV, although I don't like the motion blur I get
