correction Red army is the strongest!
Excelent, but would you make the videos a little less dense please. I'm sure i'm not the only one that isn't an english native speaker. You throw many facts and dates in a very little amount of time.
LDS German shepherd boy you lucky bastard.
The Armchair Historian Wonderful pronunciation of the word “Totenkopf”!
Jo Ze in terms of monarchal names you refer to previous ones in their anglicized name and current ones in their normal language. Example Friedrich was called Frederick bc he’s dead. If there’s a Kaiser rn he would be called friedrich
Literally Anyone: Was Prussia’s Army the Best? Prussia: Yes.... Also Prussia: *Dissolves*
00:09 ebin!
Do you dabble in a bit of eu4
The Russian in 1918 The World in 1941
I noticed the Europa Universalis IV joke there.
When is the better question. It wasn’t before Jena 1806. It was big and very slow, and unmotivated other than the most brutal discipline. It became the paradigm Army in the mid to latter half of 19th century. Today we still copy their model in many ways, even as the US has become the paradigm Army incorporating the NCO Corps in ways Prussians never did.
Playing EU4 you never let Prussia to be created. Never! I was trying to fend off them when playing Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth since ~1750. I beaten Ottomans twice, I defended against Russia but Prussia took 2/3 of my country in two wars. It was pointless to even try to fight with them and loose all of manpower.
@ 7:20 who is the Corsican lieutenant being referred to?
Nice video, thanks. But they should really start in english to use the original names for German Kaisers, Kings and so on. Friedrich instead of Frederick, Heinrich instead of Henry, an so on... i mean, come on... it's not so complicated ^^ Imagine Germans would call Bill Clinton = Wilhelm Clinton, or Prince Charles = Prinz Karl, or King Juan Carlos from Spain = König Johann(es) Karl.... that would be unnecessarily confusing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Its Friedrich not Frederick and Wilhelm not William. Names are not variable
The best? Yes. The most stylish? ABSOLUT!
Short answer: Ja Long answer: Yes
Discipline 150%
Good video, however Leuthen far from knocked Austria out of the Seven Years War! Austrian cavalry commander Andreas Hadik captured Berlin immediately after Leuthen, and there were many subsequent battles, with Frederick often coming off second best (see Hochkirch 1758, Maxen 1759, and Kunersdorf (Austro-Russian victory).
Where some states have an army, the Prussian Army has a state. Voltaire
Took a beating from Napoleon's Grande Armee
I guess that kid with the pickelhaube was right.
IIRC even Richard Sharpe could only do 5 rounds and that is with 1 round already loaded... and he being a fictional character. Now that's soldiering.
Playing Hungarian Rhapsody for a Prussian video? Shame on you!
Alot of military historians agree that the two key attributes that made the Prussian/German armies great.1] Unit Cohesion and 2] NCO Leadership
Broke is what broke them
When it wasn’t fighting Napoleon it was good
Well they don't exist any more so the answer is no.
The British were.
Do you mean Potsdam or Potsam?
In 1864 it was
in my opinion the Swedish Carolean Army was much better the the Prussian seeing how it's Discipline was even better than the Prussians and was much more effective seeing as they sometimes defeated foes like Denmark-Norway and the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth alone unlike Prussia who needed Russian and Austrian aid
110
Prussian state did not have an army. Prussian army have a state.
Excellent video ☺️
0:38 nice gag, tho you forgot to highlight the most important part, discipline and yearly army tradition
Yes
TL:DR Short answer, yes.
The Seven Years War, started by George Washington himself...
I know a kid who always wears an iron cross to school
They really got fucked by Napoleon though. Arguably one of the most embarrassing defeats in history
Who add P IN RUSSIA
Wasnt that one famous Army Tradition and Tactic book written by A Prussian?
According to my Opa it was...he was in it...born in 1874.
Yes.
Did Frederick the Great fight in linę with other soldiers? Pictures are showing that, but who knows...
Discipline: 300% Precision: 500% Glory: Incomprehensible!
Except Fredrich was humbled by non-other than the Russians, and later so did Napoleon so I think there are facts who had the best army in Europe
I wonder why there are so many EU4 references.
EU4 players: Y E S
Don't forget Frederick the Great's greatest accomplishment, being a master flautist.
Not disputing the effectiveness of Prussia's military, but let's not forget that Frederick the Great had his ass handed to him so thoroughly by the Russians in the Seven Years' War that the "miracle of the Brandenburg House" is the only reason Prussia (and Germany) still exist today.
“Ja”
Shooting faster? Why didnt the wehrmacht use semi autos? Goosestep? Scary, but tiring. Russia barely uses it. Red China version is scariest. But what advantage in asymetrical warfare today? Main advantage rugorous discipline like usmc. Goosestep 90% of fear in enemy. Prussian marchmusik, now das is die scheisß!
Many people use Prussia and Germany interchangeably, in error. Prussia was not pre-eminent until the 1860's. For instance, at Waterloo, Blucher was a secondary force to the Allies/Brits, their presence only crucial due to its timing, a shock force that turned the battle. Years before, German troops were mostly mercenaries(i.e. Hessians, etc.) Prussia was an important element in the 7 Years' war but was not clearly a military power until the Franco-Prussian War...
God bless you for the EU4 reference. they are ridiculously OP.
Answer: *Jawohl*
No, Napleon’s Grand Army in its prime prior to the Russian defeat in Russia. Cheers!
yes, in dicipline
Many states have an army, but the prussian army has a state.
But how did prussia fund their huge army that has a large percentage of its population in it
,,When your Lilitary budget is the same as the state budget"
The Prussians are the only people I know who danced to cavalry marches.
I doubt they would run over their own flag though.
Everyone know le grande armee under Napoleon was the strongest army of 19th century
*Was Prussia's Army Really the Best?* *русские звуки смеха* No
Did you really go to a school with with a kid that wore a pickelhaube? That's cool
Some times it was, sometimes it wasn't.
why dont you refer to the prussian invention of the breech- loading- rifle
simple answer: yss
When was prussias army the best? - yes
Yes. Next question.
It didn't have to be "the Best". It just had to be "good enough".
EMPIRE II TOTAL WAR Empire 2 Total War Total War EMPIRE 2 Empire II Total War Empire 2 Total War Total War Empire 2 TOTAL WAR EMPIRE II Empire 2 Total War Total War Empire 2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Battle of Leuthen was legendary, an impossible Victory. Frederick said "i will ATTACK(!) a BIGGER and BETTER equipped ARMY, which is also standing on HIGHER GROUND.. and will win" .. and so he did
