People have been talking about Hyperloop for years now, but what's actually happening with this proposed 5th form of transportation? Turns out there's a lot. And... not much. I'll explain.

  • Regarding 12:58 A net-positive solar power system would be expensive but certainly worth the investment long-term, if geothermal is not an option. The cost must be considered, yes, but even with how safe nuclear is the cost to the climate/environment far outweighs the financial investment. If solar and geothermal or some other near-zero-impact energy source is not available then the system as a whole may just have to wait a few more years until those concerns have been addressed. For the record I do not have strong feelings about elon musk or the hyperloop in general one way or the other. The environment is a much larger concern that has been ignored for too long, and the consequences are still unimaginable to most of us. Informative video, keep looking forward. Cheers.

  • That hyperloop idea is rubbish. The Deutsche Bahn cannot even provide functioning and affordable train service to most of the small villages in my country, despite Germany being densely settled and therefor having relatively short distances. Once we have a functioning and affordable Europe-wide train system, which is 100% powered by renewable energy, THEN we can think about upgrading to shooting people through vacuum tubes.

  • “Just give me a high-speed maglev system.” I totally agree with you on that. We already have the technology to go 300 mph+ on a train today. The cost and complexity and safety issues to put a maglev train in a near vacuum tube to get an extra 200 - 300 mph isn’t worth it. Need to go faster than 300 mph? We’ve got airplanes for that. If we could build an infrastructure with today’s BEST maglev train tech, and pay $45 for a ticket to go from Dallas to Houston in 45 minutes, I call that a win.

  • Hi Joe, good video... nice flow with some humor tossed it. Maybe you can find a way to tie in more of the science fiction foretelling the future... At least more than the books you mentioned. FYI hyperloop is in “seaquest” tv series from the 90s.. Bottom line, annoyed that Elon Musk is again taking credit for something that was already around.

  • The original Hyperloop patent was granted to a French inventor in the 1890s. Hyperloop is a dumb idea. To bring all the dangers of Space to sea level is Uber Dumb. The idea that it’ll be cheaper than conventional rail travel is true, Hyperloop will never work, thus making the claim it’s cheaper technically true.

  • We need smaller tubes, that can deliver groceries, or food from restaurants to people's apartments. Can also be used to send out the trash. And to send items to friends, or between companies. Also can be used for mail. No need for a vacuum, don't need to be so fast.

  • 4:04 and this is why you can't live on minimum wage - even though Elon Musk tried to while trying to look like a good person - he had COVID-19 hit him and instead of being a nice person about it - profited off of other peoples' misery by denying it - so people in his workplace could get it - including himself. Some nice person he is - I used to respect him!

  • In London, the Royal Mail, have had an automatic system of rail carts pulled by driverless locomotives below the streets of the city for years, delivering mail to some important buildings, like Downing Street and other government buildings, railway stations, and, other buildings including sub post offices and between these places.!🤯!. It's not a LOOP, and it's not HYPER, and it's not in a vacuum or propelled by rockets.!🧐!. In fact it's got NOTHING TO DO with what this video is about, and has been closed for over 30yrs I think, and.. DON'T quote me on it's ACTUAL stopping places.!🙄!. BUT... • The funny thing is seeing all these people talking about these crazy ideas and concepts (and to be fair, i think they should and be valued for it, because without the people that dream and want to achieve the "impossible" technology wouldn't improve) without even taking the intermediary step of investing to upgrade the existing infrastructure to the level of let's say... Japan's Maglev Bullet Train, clocking at 600km/h - 375mph max speed. And given the existing train infrastructure and care put into it, i'm pretty sure that if a country will be the first to develop a full functional Hyperloop System... it will probably be Japan, China or maybe (but much less likely) some EU country/countries.

  • I was informed about this concept back in the Late 60's. I would often bring the subject up after smoking some Hash, and I would Dazzle the Dorks with what I had learned. Cool.(I thought so)BUT, Why have the Scientists and Investors along with the Corrupt governments of the world Not Started??? GET CRACKIN JACK. Get a Move-On. It Does Work. It Can Work if Built.(build it & We Shall Ride IN-IT)All these years later and They Keep on Talking About It. Trust Me, it WILL Become the Method Used in the Future. So Get On With It, You Smarty-Pants 'Know it All' Types. I'll Sell you Stock Right Now.🤗
