Why Germany attacked Russia? 1. They didn't. Name Russia and Russian were completely abandoned in Soviet terminology at that point. 2. Germany attacked Soviet Union, because Soviet Union did not attack India, which meant that Stalin was not interested in cementing alliance with Hitler and choose the British and Americans who offered more useful territories as a reward for partnership - central and eastern Europe.

Dude, you may not know it, but you are spreading communist propaganda with this video. Your version of the events is mostly the Khrushchev's version, with some modifications. There are new sources, the historical science moved on. Evidence that the USSR was preparing an invasion on Germany was uncovered. There were documents published by Mark Solonin and they neatly correspond with what authors like Viktor Suvorov and others have claimed. The German invasion had nothing to do with Hitler hating the communists or the slavs. He was just cornered. I know that this is youtube and the standards are low, but it still annoyes me when somebody regurgitates the old Soviet propaganda presenting it as a revalation. BTW, Churchil did not warn Stalin of an impending German invasion, this is what the Soviets claimed. You should read the actuall letter of Churchil. He talks of a few German tank divisions when USSR had dozens of tank divisions (not to mention that the Soviet tanks were far superior to the German ones) and this could not possibly have scared Stalin. The episode with Stalin being shocked which you state as a fact is from the Zhukov memoirs which were discredited and are not taken as a source by the serious historians anymore.... I don't have time to cover all the outdated 'facts' you mentioned in this video. You need to read more. Computer graphics is not enough, you need actual knowledge.

Molotov/Ribbentrop pact was therefore convenient for both sides. But it was always a question when they would go to war against each other, not if. Hitler's greatest error was not attacking Soviets a month or 2 sooner, that and underestimating the Soviet people's resolve. Germany had 2 options: invade Great Britain or invade the Soviet Union. The invasion of Britain would have entail understanding by the Soviet Union that they would be next and make them fight. So Hitler left the UK for the dessert and Russia for the main course.
