the Italian military and it's 'martial tradition' have been utterly incompetent since the birth of Italy - A nation of waiters and posers (Italian WW1 quote)

Italians invaded Greece and handed over their authority to Germany when they couldn't handle it themselves, so that they now pretend to have delegated their responsibility as well ...
Simple Answer: Never Let Teachers Become Fascist Leaders like Mussolini
Forced to fight for fascists'! Yeah, I think I better play along for a while and keep my head down...Commies in the White House! Yeah, I think I better play along for a while and keep my head down...
"the Italians soldiers were lions led by sheep"
sounds like a normal playthrough as German Reich no resources...check lack of industry...BIG CHECK lack of equipment...why do you even need rifles? Brash Leadership...because obviously you attack lvl 10 forts duh
The M1891 Carcano was a good rifle when made by Italy but the Carcano made by Mannlicher was a very poor postwar copy.
Il Duce means The Duke
Their tanks and most of their aircraft were obsolete at the beginning of WWII
999k almost a mil
Well you almost touched on the real real reason Italy failed, namely the the population did not want war, did not support Mussolini and did not support fascism. The north of Italy was almost entirely against Mussolini, anyone with more than one male in the household had to send one of the males (sons or fathers withing a particular age) to join the fascists or risk loosing home and property. Once in the military they were in no mood to fight anyone preferring capture by British and American forces to risking their lives for something they did not believe in.
The Italian stuff was so effective it only worked on Italians
It’s because they used all their skill points and research on the Roman Empire which didn’t work
Essentially, they were in the Castle Age during the Post Imperial Age end game
At least they didn't surrender like france in 1 month
People who lives in Italy: Understandable
Om:italy itu hebat Me:what, seriously?
Modern italians are arbs
Nope
Karl Fairburn had an easy job in Sniper elite 4 Italia I must say. 😉
*Take over Ethiopia, they said.* *You'll control the whole of Africa in no time, they said.*
They were the soft underbelly of Europe
They never were
Its 3am and Hitlers asleep in his official residence. An aide rushes in and shouts "Mein Fuhrer please get up!" Hitler startled cries out "Whats wrong?" Aide says "Mein Fuhrer, the Italians have declared war!" Hitler yawns and says "Is that all? We will just send down a couple of divisions, that should take care of them. Now let me sleep" Aide says "No mein Fuhrer the Italians have declared war against our enemies!" Hitler leaps out of bed shouting"Mein Gott, that is serious! Call all my Generals and tell them to come here rightaway!"
Overused joke
At 8:16 it made me laugh
Among the great misconceptions of modern times is the assumption that Benito Mussolini was Hitler's junior partner, who made no significant contributions to the Second World War. That conclusion originated with Allied propagandists determined to boost Anglo-American morale, while undermining Axis cooperation. The Duce's failings, real or imagined, were inflated and ridiculed; his successes pointedly demeaned or ignored. Italy's bungling navy, ineffectual army - as cowardly as it was ill-equipped - and air force of antiquated biplanes were handily dealt with by the Western Allies. So effective was this disinformation campaign that it became post-war history, and is still generally taken for granted even by otherwise well-informed scholars and students of World War Two. But a closer examination of recently disclosed, and often neglected, original source materials presents an entirely different picture. They shine new light, for example, on Italy's submarine service, the world's greatest in terms of tonnage, its boats sinking nearly three-quarters of a million tons of Allied shipping in three years' time. During a single operation, Italian 'human torpedoes' sank the battleships HMS Valiant and Queen Elizabeth, plus an eight-thousand-ton tanker, at their home anchorage in Alexandria, Egypt. By mid-1942, Mussolini's navy had fought its way back from crushing defeats to become the dominant power in the Mediterranean Sea. Contrary to popular belief, his Fiat biplanes gave as good as they got in the Battle of Britain, and their monoplane replacements, such as the Macchi Greyhound, were state-of-the-art interceptors superior to the American Mustang. Savoia-Marchetti Sparrowhawk bombers accounted for seventy-two Allied warships and one hundred-ninety-six freighters before the Bagdolio armistice in 1943. On 7 June 1942, infantry of the Italian X Corps saved Rommel's XV Brigade near Gazala, in North Africa, from otherwise certain annihilation, while horse-soldiers of the Third Cavalry Division Amedeo Duca d'Aosta defeated Soviet forces on the Don River before Stalingrad the following August in history's last cavalry charge. Frank Joseph, Mussolini’s War, Fascists Italy’s Military Struggles from Africa and Western Europe to the Mediterranean and Soviet Union 1935 - 1945.
Yep; these are pretty much the key reasons as to why Italy struggled so mightily (to say the least) throughout much of WW2: largely, relatively lackluster leadership, command, and officership; limited technology and industrial capacity; and not great quality of forces, generally.
Because they are Italian
So original
People should know that your recommended vpn has been hacked and all their users exposed. Their names and passwords are all over the internet. A VPN shifts the point of trust from your internet service provider to your vpn provider. If a vpn provider uses old and outdated server software with known vulnerabilities to make larger profits then they cheat on you. A public vpn with vulnerability is not worth the money it’s an additional risk
Next video: "why was uk so ineffective in ww2 before american intervention?".
Italy didn't loose they merely failed to win
Never invite italy to be in your side on a war. You know what's gonna happen.
Like the Entente in WW1?
I always thought Ill duce was Italian for the douche.
Seems like out of the three Axis Powers,Germany was the only one who have the power to fight on several fronts,in Europe, and well Italy is also a great part of them as their moral support I think,
they spent their skill by upgrading the "roman empire tier" rather than upgrading into an another tier
Why Mussolini looks like Elon Musk?
One of their greatest failures is that Italy couldn't conquer Greece a nation that given moment were even more subjected to shortages and lack of machinery...and despite being severely outnumbered Greek troops fended off Italians...to the point that they were forced to look for help from the Nazis
I'm greek I say people think that war is good it is like criticise them war offers nothing little entertainment maybe big ambitions lead to disaster they came here also our ancestors played the war game and they both died in mountains of Albania war game is good entertainment but sport games are better I like the graphic video the cartoons are ok
I'm glad we loose it , i don't want to speak german
The British too were also deprived of modern equipment after the pacifist attitude that pravailed in the 1920s and 1930s. It's tanks were for the most part little better than the Italian and there were fewer of them. The RAF too were flying older planes in North and East Africa and the Royal Nave had WWI era battleships. The fact is that the Italians were eager to fight Arabs and Africans, but quickly surrendered when faced with British Empire troops which could fight back. Try to excuse the facts as much as you like, but the pictures of thousands of Italians surrendering to a handful oif British says it all. NO WILL TO FIGHT
You start with a good analysis but quickly fall for the typical British made myths regarding Italians. A shame really, and a bit hypocritical considering how many British surrendered both in France and in South East Asia (Singapore rings any bell?)
Even Roman Empire can shoot catapult better than Modern Italian shooting artillery in WW2
Doubt
Because Captain Corelli played his mandolin poorly.
Americans love to think in war everybody else is bad, but them.

Video based on videogame, common sense and just some historic "learning", such a joke, no actual military, operational or technical analysis
Stay away from his videos, they're crap. lies and memes, he and his buddies are here only to sell their equally crap VPN.
It bothers me that the armchair historian doesn't sit in an armchair.
He sits on the toilet looks down and sees his brain floating
But the food is good, so the Allies forgave them.
Dislikes Is From Italian
A few points:. 1 italy invaded Ethiopia and Germany had to bail them before they were thrown back into the sea. They were up against primitive farmers with farm tools. 2. Italy probably wasn't nearly as nationalistic as Germany probably because they weren't insulted as a people the way Germans were at the conclusion of WW I - in two words VERSAILLES TREATY. 3. Despite italy's mistakes in WW II they are excellent craftsmen... Ferrari, Lamborghini, Sistine Chapel... Rome, Florence, Venice.
Italy coquered Ethiopia in 1935-36. The Germans helped the Italians in 1941 in Greece.
How many gears has an Italian tank? You know the rest
It's a joke, hope you have enough sense not to take it seriously.
Italy didn't deport Jews in the territories they controlled until they surrendered to Germany in 1943. To think how many lives could've been saved if they didn't. However, there would've been alot more Italian casualties.
Lol to see an army that worse than ROC' NRA.
Spaghetti memes
Round bullets my only answer
Italy wasn't ready for a war, if they joined in 1943 they would had a biggest chance to win.
Germany: ok guys lets talk about this plan now , Japan: ok im in , Italy: eee anyonaa wantaa cakeaa i madea iz gooddd ??
Basically Italy was a noob
"Ill Douche" heh... better name for him
the Italian soldiers were excellent and courageous and there are no doubts about this while the officers were bad, ok, but the others were certainly no better ... the German officers completely mistaken the plans to attack Russia: one of the most obvious mistakes in history ..the British officers showed their full inability and amateurism in dunkirk .. the French officers were the worst: they thought that the ww1 tactics were valid also in 1939 .. so the Italian officers were no worse than the others
The italians wouldnt have to retake former roman territory since they already layed wreckage to europe several times in history
not many people know that Mussolini DIT NOT militarise the country... his government actually spent less on the military than they did before.
I am offended...the Italians had some of the best uniforms...that was an achievement
fashion is important
Invade Greece now for the Italy
I certainly don't think Italian soldiers, sailors and airmen were lacking for courage, they simply weren't equipped or led to in a way that could effectively fight the war they'd joined. And I honestly can't blame them for not wanting to. If I recall Rommel spoke quite highly of Italian troops under his command, rather than Italian command. :P
well it's Italy duh
Italy wasn't ineffective. Italy successfully won all of its fights besides the ones that were against Greece. Italy successfully invaded Egypt, France, Yugoslavia, Ethiopia and many more. The only defeat they had was in Greece.. The Greeks made many operations with their special forces and won both Germany and Italy forces. (In Santorini, Simi, and many many more) (Not talking about the Greco Italian war only, since there Greece won every single battle). Respect to Greece! Italy was very powerful tho, Greece was just good organized and had a good army..
Still incompetent tel today not learning they past’s mistakes Look at them They are literally repeating history and they shall be destroyed this time by the EAST
Totally false. you give no facts to back up what you say.
I would argue Germany is the worst Ally
Wow, it's worse than I thought.
“ NEWLY ADOPTED CARCANO rifles being exchanged for old WWI rifles”...... you mean the same carcano rifle design they used since 1891?... now I’m doubting the historic accuracy of this video.
I think they are referring to the Modello 1938 in the Carcano series, an upgrade from the Modello 1891 or M91 of the same series. Probably meant to say newly designed or something of the sort.
Because of lack of industrialization, newer weapon have quality issue in mass producing line. It was not only ww1 carcano they use, but ANY ww1 weapon in their inventory have better quality than their issued weapon. Logistic for that mixed bullet calibre sure was hell...
Great channel!
Did not want to fight .
