    • Sir. I appreciate your sharing of knowledge, but I think you are wrong in calling these design decisions as stupid. These things are working exactly as intended. Because the more things break, the more cars that people need to buy. :D

    • Scotty, I'm not sure if you think about doing this or not in the past. But have you ever tried to write to all these car companies about doing stupid things and have some of them change some off or all of the stupid things that they do? If so, do some of them listen to what you have to say about this topic? Such as putting fuel pumps in fuel tanks,etc..

    • Mr. Kilmer. I have been watching your videos for some time now and find you to have the years experience of a mechanic behind you to take your words as education. Myself I am a veteran auto body tech who restores classics for a living and I know my old carburetor cars very well. But we get into this fuel injection vehicles even as older as 90s I have some issues. I have been looking for a way to find your actual email info but as I said fuel injection stumps me as does technology with electronics so this computer stuff isn't a strong point either. I am in middle of an issue with my work vehicle which is 91 s10 4.3. I would like to ask a few questions if I could so I can confirm my hunches that I have a failing fuel pump. Thanks and love the channel.

  • Scotty is absolute CORRECT (No shocker there!) about bumpers or fenders as they say in the USA. I'm in my 30's and I recently started going to more authentic areas of Spain where the towns are still 90% native whereas before I've only ever been to tourist spots and myself and my family found it highly entertaining watching the local residents park lol! They use their car "bumpers" like you've never seen and it is common and considered okay to actually move other cars by force so you can fit yours into a space that say was not originally big enough! Talk about a blast from the past, Scotty would LOVE a couple hours in these neighbourhoods where the ONLY parking rule is: If it doesn't fit, you make it fit and if you cannot, just dump your car in the road and come back when you feel like it. The attitude is if people need to move things they do and nobody gets too bothered if they return and their car is now parked half a mile away vertically in a swimming pool. They don't see cars as anything more than a tool to do a job and clean them?? Hahahaha! You see cars that I haven't seen since I was 5. Cars from the 50's that are complete rust and have no windows and you think oh it must be an ornament and then some woman jumps in cranks it up and a mushroom cloud engulfs the whole town as she takes off in this bare metal shell that sounds as smooth as broken glass in a lawnmower!😂 Even people who have the money to have modern luxury vehicles like your Wayne Rovers and Bentley Cuntinentals are covered in dings, scratches, scrapes, dents, crushed areas and its also common to INSTEAD of getting a repair of body work or doing it yourself to save money, the local tradition is to use mountains of duct tape and THEN paint the tape any colour of a similar shade lol! WHOLE NEW WORLD!

  • Plastic is not the only material that a water pump impeller could be made out of, that does not rust. Not all metal rusts. A water pump impeller does not need to be made out of a strong metal such as iron or steel, so it can easily and cheaply be made out of a cheap, low-melting point, easily-cast, non-rusting pot metal.

  • Stupid malicious engineers in Detroit could have made things far SIMPLER if they'd wanted. Instead they chose the path of evil. In fact car design is an ecological disaster, they still put enough steel in them and don't paint or treat the underside that 2,500 pounds gets thrown away after 10 years. Guns which require great strength and corrosion resistance, use stainless, aluminum and polymers. Last forever.

  • Scotty has got a lot of good points over a lot of things, I work with mechanics, or now they are called fitters, as they dont usually fix any thing now, just replace parts (mostly) . The car companies are so cunning, replacing metal for plastic as they say it makes the car much more lighter for economy, and cheaper to make.I noticed things going cheap and low quality in the late 80s where the car companies dont even want none franchised mechanics touch their vehicles producing their own company made tools which were highly expensive. I dont seriously think car manufcures want cars to last for many years as they used to, apart from some that actually do luckily. Plenty of negatives in the past too of the older cars, eg emissions, fuel economy, unrefinement, safety etc. I never understood people who bought cars for a year or less, then got another one for say $500 each, but now do as if it is not worth fixing just get another one.

  • One thing I don't agree with is the bumpers. They are plastic for a reason and take a hit a lot better than the old cars did. Sure it may look like the damage is huge but the body (and most important, the people inside) is mostly saved from major damage. The old cars had a lot of hidden damage and lots of people were killed because of the way they were built.

  • I think water pumps driven off the timing belts are stupid. I think timing belts are stupid. nothing wrong with pushrods simple and effective and these Plastic timing chain guides!! Really. It would be nice if they could just put the fuel pump snug on the side of the tank. It wouldn’t hurt to back technology up a little bit on some things.

  • You do know that the audis that have a plastic water pump blade( it's not normal plastic, its reinforced ) dont use water as coolant right, these high end cars use waterless coolants..... wich is heavier to pump and gets alot hotter then water cooled engines. Normal waterpumps on high end cars break easy after a while, getting hot and cold again all the time, this reinforced plastic. IF it even breaks off ( wich hasn't happened in my 9 years of working with audi ) it wont hurt the engine like steel or aluminium does. And plastic also does not get corroded. And is immune to all other minerals like chalk found in water. Guess this channel is stuck in the 1990s, just as that shitty celica you always praise.
